Actually it’s going to be an EP rather than a full album - which maybe means some chance of a release before christmas this year. The four tracks are almost penned, and recording is a few more steps towards becoming possible again now that some new kit has been aquired to replace the last studio (full time work does have it’s rewards after all).
Logic 8 will be arriving through the post soon - I’ve been promised that it’s easy enough so even I might be able to record audio with it… (I think I’d still rather another 4 track).

In iTunes 7, there was a preference to disable the links to the iTunes Store — these are the small arrows that appear when you select a song in your library. In iTunes 8, however, that preference is gone. A bit of digging in the iTunes’ binary found the solution, thankfully.
If you’d like to disable the iTunes Store link arrows, quit iTunes, open Terminal, and run this command:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links -bool FALSE
Relaunch iTunes, and voila, no more arrows! To reverse this behavior, you can repeat the above command (quit iTunes first), but replace FALSE with TRUE. (Or, if you prefer, you can completely delete the added preference with defaults delete com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links).
I’m sure this would have been submitted by someone at some point, but the arrows annoyed me enough to go digging for a solution — and thanks to Kirk McElhearn for his help in finding and testing the fix!

Possibly the coolest backpack ever? Just like a normal Nike CORE backpack but with the added benefit of padded compartments for both laptop and ipod. The ipod compartment has a 14 pin connector and the right hand strap has both headphone socket and playback controls in it.
I think I may have broken a few anti consumer rules here - does BNWT from ebay count as buying new?

I’m just now watching Broken Flowers on the BBC iplayer. I assume that BBC are subject to the same rights issues as Channel 4 - so what’s the story here? Come on please 4OD, let us mac users have a player for your content. I’m fine with just a streaming service, I just want to watch Peep Show (and Nathan Barley, Bo Selecta, Father Ted, Adam and Joe … )

I’m using it now. First impressions - I like the new chrome and the auto complete on the location bar is very nice indeed. Lucky there’s a 1.1 beta release of Firebug or I probably wouldn’t bother. Firefox 2 sucked so much that it’s really going to have to do a lot to win me back from Safari…

Is it just me or does every web designer go through a post project period of outright hostility and loathing to the last site produced? This one has been published for a while now but I’ve only just started liking it enough to put it on the portfolio.

I really do need to find some work soon. So far this week I’ve been doing little other than playing a mac version of a popular 80’s space trading game. The predominantly black screen has revealed a tiny stuck green pixel on the 23″ cinema display. Bum.

It’s that time of year again, when work is slow and so I start looking at the usual recruitment sites for potential clients. Inevitably I end up getting drawn to the full time jobs, moth like, attracted by the shiny logos and websites and sparkly client lists.. It’s happened twice already. It’s quite nice, having a proper job. In the beginning it’s all charm and getting in to work on time cause I just can’t wait to see my new best friends and hang out at my new desk. It feels like everyone is paying attention to me - I’ve got something to contribute, something worthwhile and together we are all going to make a difference. Could this be the one? The job that becomes the career? No! Because ultimately, it’s just a job and luckily there is so much in life that is way more important than a paycheck.
So what if work is slow? Pack up the van dude, lets go surfing :D

I’m always forgetting these..
- Cmd+Shift+3 - Save whole screen.
- Cmd+Shift+4 - Save a selection.
- Cmd+Shift+4 followed by space - Save selected window.
Add in Ctrl to the above and it’ll save to the clipboard rather than the desktop.

Having problems getting itunes music sharing working? Have you googled yourself stupid trying to find out how to “enable filter multicast” on your Belkin F5D7632 router using the comedy admin interface? Me too!
But it was actually working earlier! After mucking about with port forwarding rules and turning ip and mac address filtering on and off and on again the shared libraries just appeared! It was a magic moment. I left the studio, ibook in hand, and went to my room blasting Bloc Party from the tiny speakers.
Alas, it works no more. I strongly suspect that the Belkin router is the cause. Tomorrow I’m going to try D-Link router and see if that’s any better.

Just to round up, everything works perfectly with the D-Link router :o)
